Ice Blue Takes Over: The Hottest Dial Color of 2025

Ice Blue Takes Over: The Hottest Dial Color of 2025

There are many different names brands use for what’s arguably the hottest dial color of 2025: ice blue, baby blue, sky blue, glacier blue, arctic blue. But no matter what you call it, this soft shade of light blue is dominating watch dials right now. And the best way to wear it? Paired with white metal—platinum, white gold, or steel—and you’ve got a winning combo.

Of course, this color combo isn’t entirely new. Most enthusiasts will immediately think of the Rolex Day-Date 40 in 950 platinum with the iconic ice blue dial or the Cosmograph Daytona in 950 platinum with a ice blue dial— two watch that, for years, made this dial color exclusive to Rolex’s most prestigious metal. But it took some time before other brands started to embrace the look.

In 2022, MB&F dropped the sporty LM Split Escapement EVO with an icy blue dial—a striking move from an independent known for bold design. Then in 2024, IWC introduced several Portugieser models in white gold with what they call Horizon Blue dials. A few other brands followed suit here and there, but the real boom came at Watches & Wonders 2025, where this shade of light blue was everywhere.

Even Patek Philippe showcased their ultra-complicated Quadruple Complication, ref 5308G-001—complete with minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, and instantaneous perpetual calendar—in a platinum case with a luminous ice blue dial, with a price tag of €1,216,710. That says a lot about where things are heading.

Below are some of the ice blue dial watches that particularly caught my eye during Wa. Let’s dive in.

Parmigiani Toric Quantième Perpétuel in Platinum with Morning Blue Dial

Another year, another stunning release from Parmigiani. The brand continues to surprise with its commitment to horological purism. Last year, they introduced a new, time-only Toric that impressed with so many subtle, thoughtful details, it quickly became a show favorite among watch enthusiasts.

This year, Parmigiani expands the Toric collection with a perpetual calendar—still incredibly pure, clean, and easy to read. And once again, it was a crowd favorite.

Housed in a platinum case measuring 40.6 mm in diameter and 10.6 mm thick, the watch has a modest 30 meters of water resistance. Inside ticks the Caliber PF733, offering a 60-hour power reserve, running at 4 Hz (28,800 A/h), and composed of 265 components.

The hand-grained dial comes in a beautiful shade Parmigiani calls Morning Blue—subtle, elegant, and perfectly matched with the platinum case. Price: €103,700 (including VAT).

Chopard L.U.C Quattro – Mark IV

Chopard presented two very interesting watches this year with trendy light blue dials. One of them is the L.U.C Quattro – Mark IV.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Quattro movement, Chopard introduced this 39 mm platinum edition as a tribute. The watch is powered by the exclusive Quattro technology: two pairs of stacked barrels that together provide 1.885 metres of mainspring. Since its debut in 2000, this innovation has set the standard, delivering an exceptional 216 hours (nine days) of power reserve.

The platinum case has a bassine shape, with a narrower base and a domed, polished bezel. At 39 mm in diameter and 10.4 mm thick, it wears smoothly on the wrist. For me, these dimensions make it a perfect modern classical watch.

The L.U.C Quattro – Mark IV features a brass dial with a frosted texture and a luminous sky-blue colour obtained by PVD treatment. Water resistance is 30 metres. Price: €51,400 (incl. VAT).

Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon

Another stunning example of an ice-blue dial from Chopard is the Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon. Unlike most pieces in this list, it’s crafted not from precious metal but from Lucent Steel—Chopard’s exclusive alloy made with 80% recycled steel.

The watch features a 41 mm case with an integrated bracelet and a textured Rhône Blue dial. At 6 o’clock sits the flying tourbillon, distinguished by the absence of an upper bridge, which gives the mechanism a lighter, more open appearance on the dial.

At just 8 mm thick, the watch wears comfortably on the wrist and it offers 100 metres of water resistance. Inside beats the automatic calibre L.U.C 96.24-L, equipped with a stop-seconds function for precise setting and delivering a 65-hour power reserve. It’s both COSC-certified and bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark. Price is around 130,000 eur (including VAT).

Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Horizon

Laurent Ferrier watches are a blend of dress and leisure—easy to wear as everyday pieces, yet leaning toward the classical side. They are usually very restrained, with every detail carefully thought through. So when Laurent Ferrier introduces a complication, it definitely deserves attention—and you can be sure it’s executed differently. The Classic Auto Horizon is a good example, where the date aperture takes center stage. Normally I’m not a fan of date windows, but in this case I appreciate how it has been integrated.

The watch comes in a 40 mm stainless steel case, paired with a a subtle yet profound shade of translucent blue lacquer dial with vertical satin-brushing in the centre.

From the front, Laurent Ferrier watches are always discreet, clean, and classical. But the real magic happens when you turn the watch over. The architecture and finishing of the movement are consistently intriguing and beautiful to look at. One detail in this movement that especially captivates me is the stunning platinum micro-rotor and its finishing. Beyond that, the movement displays outstanding traditional work: mirror-polished bevels, hand-crafted interior angles, and rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève. The movement itself is the automatic calibre LF270.01 with a power reserve of 72 h. Price is 45,000 CHF (excluding tax).

Grand Seiko Spring Drive U.F.A. (SLGB001)

Grand Seiko Spring Drive U.F.A.

Grand Seiko presented a classy Spring Drive U.F.A. (SLGB001) in a 37 mm platinum case, 11.4 mm thick, with an ice forest dial. U.F.A. stands for Ultra Fine Accuracy and refers to the automatic UFA Calibre 9RB2, which achieves an astonishing rate of ±20 seconds per year. In April 2025, Grand Seiko stated that it is ‘the most accurate wristwatch movement powered by a mainspring today.’ Water resistance is 100 meters. The Spring Drive U.F.A. is limited to 80 pieces and priced at €42,000 (including tax).

Rolex Land-Dweller

Rolex Land-Dweller

The Rolex Land-Dweller is probably the most important release from Rolex in years. It’s not only an entirely new collection—drawing inspiration from vintage Oysterquartz models—but also the debut of a groundbreaking movement featuring a newly patented indirect impulse system, the Dynapulse escapement. The watch comes in 36 mm or 40 mm cases across several variations. And since we’re talking about ice-blue dials, the platinum Land-Dweller with its signature ice-blue face simply has to be on this list. Price: €63,700.

In my view, the different shades of light blue are not just a passing trend—they’re here to stay. Discreet, calm, and versatile, they are also more airy and refreshing than the classic deep-blue dials
