Parmigiani Fleurier continues to deliver impressive new watches, meet their latest edition, the TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante. Details, live photos and prices below.
Let’s be honest. Many watch brands these days don’t seem too interested in venturing into new complications or offering original interpretations of existing ones. We see tones of chronographs, GMTs, tourbillons covered in different styles and cases. And when you see a brand introducing something truly original, it’s hard not to get excited about them. After its relaunch, Parmigiani Fleurier knew they had to bring something fresh to the table in order to capture the attention of the crowd. And boy, did they deliver. They clearly defined the vision for the brand: purism and innovation, and they stuck to it religiously. For the second year already, the brand continues to surprise us with new complications. Last year, it was the remarkable TONDA PF GMT Rattrapante, and this year, they introduced the TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante—a mysterious time counting function, only visible when activated. This complication is intuitive, efficient and extremely simple to use, covered in harmony with the spirit of Parmigiani Fleurier.
The TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante was created with the aim of reimagining a common watch function and taking it to the next level of innovation. Instead of using a bezel to perform the function, the watch movement itself handles it. This approach brings user-friendliness, clear visibility, and a straightforward process when activating the function.
The Minute Rattrapante complication offers a unique way to track time in minutes until a target moment, whether it’s the end of a presentation, achieving the perfect cooking time for a dish, or monitoring remaining game time. The rhodium-plated gold minute hand conceals a rose gold minute rattrapante, which is unveiled when the function is activated. By using two pushers, the hand can be positioned along the dial-train to define a duration in minutes, either in 5-minute increments with the pusher at 8 o’clock or in 1-minute increments with the one at 10 o’clock. As the minute hand approaches the chosen position of the “minute rattrapante” (split minute), the countdown continues until both hands align, indicating the target time. A third pusher, on the crown, allows the “rattrapante minute” to return to its hidden position by “rattrapant” (“catching up”) with the minute hand.
The TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante showcases pure and essential proportions featuring sophisticated aesthetic codes and finishes. It is presented in a polished and satin-finished stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 10.7 mm, accompanied by a platinum 950 knurled bezel. The dial is in sand grey color with Grain d’Orge hand-guilloché finishing.
The TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante houses an automatic in-house movement, featuring a minute rattrapante function and a rose gold micro-rotor. With a power reserve of 48 hours, the movement is adorned with exquisite Côtes de Genève and Perlage decorations, while the 22ct rose gold micro-rotor is embellished with Grain d’Orge guilloché pattern.
The price of the Parmigiani TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante is €31,200. More details about Parmigiani Fleurier watches on parmigiani.com
