IWC Introduces the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18-Carat Gold

At Watches and Wonders 2025 in Geneva, IWC introduced the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18-carat 5N gold (Ref. IW328702), expanding its Ingenieur lineup with a luxurious full-gold model. Details, live pictures, and prices below.

The watch features a 40mm case crafted entirely from 18-carat 5N gold, including the bezel, crown guards, and bracelet links. The mix of satin and polished finishes accentuates the design, with the brushed surfaces giving way to polished edges for contrast. The bezel follows the same approach, with a satin-brushed top and polished outer edges. On the wrist, the weight of solid gold adds a noticeable presence.

The black dial maintains the “Grid” pattern seen in previous models, creating interesting texture. The applied indices and gold-plated hands—also in 5N gold—are filled with Super-LumiNova, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. While the contrast between the gold case and black dial is striking, it remains a familiar combination within the Ingenieur collection.

Powering the watch is IWC’s in-house 32111 calibre, visible through the sapphire case back. This movement offers a 120-hour power reserve, thanks to its double pawl winding system. A gold-plated oscillating weight, Geneva stripes, and blued screws add visual interest to the movement’s finishing.

With a price tag of 47,800 CHF (including VAT), the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in gold enters the realm of full-precious-metal luxury sports watches.
