Tudor has introduced a new version of its Black Bay Chronograph with a smaller 39mm case and a striking yellow-and-black dial, nicknamed the “Bumblebee.” Meet the new Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee”.

The biggest news is the size. Compared to the existing 41mm Black Bay Chronograph—which measures 14.4mm thick—the new model is 39mm across and just 13.1mm thick, with a compact 47mm lug-to-lug distance. This makes it noticeably more compact on the wrist while maintaining its 200-meter water-resistance rating. In practice, it wears far better than the larger version and should appeal to collectors who found the original case dimensions a little excessive.

The case of the Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee”is machined from 316L stainless steel with a mix of satin-brushed and polished finishes, featuring classic beveled lugs. It is equipped with a fixed stainless steel bezel with a black anodized aluminum tachymeter insert. Additionally, the screw-down pushers have been updated with a new “MK2” knurling pattern inspired by Tudor’s second-generation vintage chronographs.
The dial combines a bright yellow background with black sub-dials, recalling some of Tudor’s colorful chronographs from the past. The signature “Snowflake” hands have been hollowed out and optimized so they don’t block the readability of the 45-minute and small-seconds sub-dials.

Inside is Tudor’s COSC-certified Manufacture Calibre MT5813, featuring a column wheel, vertical clutch, silicon balance spring, and a 70-hour power reserve. The movement is based on Breitling’s B01 architecture but is enhanced with a high-precision regulating organ developed exclusively by Tudor. This movement has already proven itself in previous Black Bay Chronograph models.
The watch is fitted to a new three-link stainless steel bracelet featuring Tudor’s “T-fit” micro-adjustment clasp, which allows for 8mm of on-the-fly micro-adjustments without the need for tools.

While the yellow dial will not be for everyone, the new 39mm case feels like the real story here. It gives the Black Bay Chronograph the proportions that many enthusiasts have been asking for and, arguably, makes the watch more wearable than ever.
The Tudor Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee” (Ref. 79310N) retails for €6,090 (including VAT) and includes a five-year, transferable warranty with no mandatory maintenance checks.
